My name is Anna.
I was just like you. A 21 year old college student, who had never heard of Melissa Diane McGuinn. One day I saw a picture of a little missing girl, and was very curious what her story was. Once I read her story, I could not stop thinking about it.
It began to drive me bonkers, trying to wrap my head around what on earth could have happened to the little girl. I talked about it to my family and friends through out the day, and I thought about it in bed at night while I was trying to sleep. The story captivated me.
I would spend several months trying to find all the information about it that I could. Then one day, I found contact information for a family friend.
I sent him a message, and tried to offer the only help I knew to give. I am a good blogger and a good facebook page administrator.
I have created many facebook pages for missing children, five of which hit over 15,000 followers, 3 of those five children would be found.
I contacted the family friend, and asked him if he could tell Melissa's mother, that I would like to create a facebook page about Melissa. Next thing I knew, I was talking on the phone with Melissa's mom.
I found out there was even so much more to the story than I thought. Melissa's story was really, made for the movies.
Melissa's mother said she wanted Melissa's story to be told, and wanted more of an online presence for Melissa, but she had no computer, and didn't know anyone else who had good computer skills to help.
That night, we set up the plan. I would work with the McGuinns to get Melissa's story on the internet, in hopes of someday finding the information needed to find out Melissa's fate.
Anna can you send me some links to you missing blogs

What an incredible blog. I never even heard about Melissa. I wish stories like this were given more attention. Would love to see a lifetime movie about her. I read stories like this and just can't imagine what the parents have gone through. I am fearful for my daughter to grow up in this world. I don't think I could go on without her.
ReplyDeleteMelissa,

wow Melissa, thank you for sharing. I am so sorry to hear of such a sad story. Now it's going to bug me, all of the unanswered questions like; where is the specific needs lady now? and LE has NO idea which way to go? I just find that so absurd. This is just heartbreaking and I hope the best for this family.

ReplyDeleteI heard that Wanda’s former husband set up for the baby to be sold then adopted(when Wanda wouldn’t give her son instead)? Are Melissa’s parents on genealogy websites, especially Becky, thank you .
ReplyDeleteAllegedly she handed the baby off to a car which is why she was closer to Libda’s(?) house. Illegal adoption that’s why I think she is still alive-but doesn’t know she’s adopted or?
ReplyDeleteHi. Can you share any recognisable features of Melissa, please? Thanks.
